I don't have that EP, so I'm not sure! I do know that stylistically it was somewhere between 'Take Me Higher' and 'Rich Boys' and that, like many ATF songs, there was a strong moral mesage hidden under the deceptively simple lyrics. Apparently Buzz Magazine didn't "get it" and encouraged Baptists in particular not to buy it. For those unfamiliar with the track, it goes something like this:
It's not big and it's not clever, They snuffle about on heath, in heather, Stripey souls in which nature invested, You snog a badger and you'll be arrested.
CHORUS Never snog a badger (yeah, yeah), Never snog a badger (yeah, yeah), They're hairier than seals (ooh yeah), And besides, it's not hygienic.
Straying from the straight and narrow, Is surely worse than assaulting a sparrow. You can't see clearly in the tall green grass, And could accidentally kiss the badger's ****
REPEAT CHORUS
BRIDGE You dirty bar steward, I'm calling the pigs.... (Guitar solo, with strange noises of assault and arrest)
REPEAT CHORUS TO FADE
Actually, I can see why Buzz didn't like it. The 12" version is largely the same except it ends with the sound of somebody grabbing his coat and leaving the building in haste...
