The soundman writes:
You're right about the lack of soundcheck, it's a fact of life at this sort of event (and the reason for starting with 1980-f because that comes in sort of gradually and gives me time to fix things before the next thing happens, rather than Joy which starts full-on and stays there!) ...what made it even more 'interesting' was that the mixer failed during the previous band on that stage, so as the "guest soundman" I mixed ATF with the PA crew diving around me pressing buttons, re-patching things and wiring in a whole new mixer. All credit to them that there was any sound at all!

Techie note: The faders weren't working so I was adjusting the channel trim controls to achieve a balance, which means there's no such thing as a subtle change and anything I did also affected the band's monitors - not good. Plus, (for example) the guitar channel appeared in three different places during the course of the set! Grey hairs ahoy....

More generally - all comments on the sound at ATF gigs are read and taken on board...it shows you care! I'm a long-time ATF fan too so we're all on the same side.

Oh no! Dragged into the modern world kicking and screaming!

This link demands I sign up to Facebook.    Thanks, but any alternatives Halligan?

Cheers

The trick is to enter the link exactly as printed but without the new line after php?.  Any mistake will redirect you to the facebook sign-in page.  I did it OK using two ^C ^V copy and pastes, but Jen did it by copying it down onto paper and typing it in (getting it wrong first time - a 1 instead of an l - but OK when we tried again later)!

Hope this helps.

John

Thanks Sharpies, I can see Rob's excellent pics now.

What a relief that I'm not on any of them!  Link sent to friends who wish they could have been there.

Cheers
