The little bit between Yorkshire and Scotland is the
Yorkshire wannabe out lands.
Hull is at the interesting side of the country of course,
Southport is that boring that the tide only visits every
blue moon!
I feel a wave of abuse floating through the air, I better
go to work now in L**cashire. I have my accent translator
with me. Looking forward to the stone pillar which
indicates I am back in Yorkshire at about 10.30 tonight, I
always get a strange warm feeling passing that, knowing I
am home. Come on Citroen, carry me home.

oohhh no here we go again..

Experts on historical dialects categorise as Northern the area north of a line that begins at the Humber estuary, and runs up the river Wharfe and across to the River Lune in north Lancashire.

It's quite clear that the North-folk live in Norfolk and the South-folk live in
Suffolk. The definitive answer!!

Colin, anything south of Doncaster is the south. Watford

I have said before, there are two kinds of people in this
world, them from Yorkshire and them that's not.

And large parts of East Anglia are now eastern Eurpoe

If you look at the UK it does seem like a lizard stood up on its rear legs (I know it probably couldn't but go with it anyway) Scotland is obviously the head, Cornwall the tail, Humberside the short front arms, Norfolk the tummy!!! and wales the backpack where it carries its camping gear for when it goes on holiday. Loch Ness its eye, the Pennines the backbone and Dover area the front feet.

I'm with Kevin...anything south of Doncaster - except I'd put the line near Kippax.
But, no-one need worry about losing their Tyke-ness: I emigrated to London in 1985 and still see Leeds as 'home'. As they say, "you can always tell a Yorkshireman...but you can't tell him much"
