Jenny, if you tried it out, does that mean you reported someone..? I reckon you're egging me on, but I'll not be tempted (unless things get really out of hand - which I doubt!)

I would rather be at peace with all my fellow roadies (and worthy others)

Yeah, Dominion, its good of you remember Alan- after all he started the post, and then we all get carried away. Of course we're interested to know your ATF provenence, Alan. Do you go way back, or have you got to know them more recently. And is your son a real fan? Sorry when we just carry on with our internal nonsense. It hasn't always been quite so extreme - we seem to be going through a phase at the moment, after a long cold winter! Sometimes it's really educational here.

How about we introduce ourselves properly? You already know we're a bit crazy, but we havn't really been very polite hosts, except at the beginning.

I'll start: I got to know ATF in the very early 80's at Southampton university, when most of our CU hall group hopped around at Andy Piercy's feet, prompting comment in the University newspaper... I also saw them in London, towards the end, but I'm not sure where. I had no idea they had reformed until late last year, when by chance I ended up on a youtube video, and one thing led to another.

I've been in Germany for thirteen years, and so can't just hop over the channel for the odd concert, as my wife doesn't like cooking, and the family would suffer malnutrition..! The Forum & Website has been a great way to catch up, and enjoy the concerts, and sort of get to know this crowd. There's also a lot of sharing of related things musical, and for me, its certainly expanded and enriched my musical tastes.

So, I'll pass on the baton...

Pardon me Seagull, I think that's a great idea and I'll take up the baton in a minute... but I have unfinished business because of being Spammed yesterday.

Colin, thanks for the info about the grid.  I managed to use the Quote button but there still wasn't a grid (who needs one anyway?!).  It's okay, I didn't think you were having a go at me but I was mystified by your comment about the ticket via Mersey and the refreshments

Maggie, let's travel in tandem, that's Friendly/Truckie/Happy

No Foxton gig this year ; I assume that's what you are asking.  It's good they're playing in other parts of the country, and it's a good thing really for us, from a time point of view, especially because of impending grandparenthood in the autumn

I hope ATF will play here again sometime, though, PRETTY PLEASE!!!!

If we declared ourselves a vegetarian Forum, would we be free from being spammed all the time? I agree, there's no logic to it, and it feels like someone's just got it in for us. I got done yesterday. I only wanted to tell Jenny that I could fly away pretty nippy if I heard the knock on the door

Back to the bio:

John was at Greenbelt for the (in)famous fireworks in '79, and I think he may have been a previous year; that's where he first came across ATF.  He was at So'ton uni too, in the late '70s.  (Don't tell anyone, but he and his friend ran the pirate campus radio, broadcasting from their wardrobes, with the pseudonyms Karm Randilegg and Onhj Rhasp! We still have some reel-to-reel of a programme somewhere.)

I met John in late '79 and he was quick to introduce me to ATF's music.  SofC was very influential in my conversion.  We went to some of the London gigs but they've blurred together somewhat (I do remember that final gig at the Dominion.  A programme on the TV recently reminded John about Pete playing one of those body keyboard things; they were a bit of a gimic for a while.)  Another gig we remember very well was with a friend at Bath uni in the early '80s.  It was around November 5th, after the bonfire...

John discovered that ATF were playing again by chance in about 2004 when he was doing some internet searching.  Where would we be without it?!  We didn't belong to the Friends and it's been great meeting some of you now, as well as the band...  Surreal!!!

I think you should propose the vegetarian Forum to the powers, Seagull.  It might go down very well (better than Spam), especially as allotments are all the rage.

If Mr B will come out of his shed for long enough, that is

I'm a vegetarian so got my full support.

Much prefer Linda Mc than Quorn though.
