I remember that afternoon pm performance with Mr Barrattt and his big red Gibson plus flailing hair. (Wouldn't mind some of my own flailing follicules back)

They were one of those hard gigging long hair rock bands that seemed to be swept away by punk/new wave.

Saw him later adding lead guitar to the Mighty Flyers

While we're in Nostalge mode, I went to a gig in about 1980 at St George's Hall, Bradford, opened by the Barratt Band. They were followed by Alwyn Wall, backed by...The Barratt Band. Headliner was Larry Norman, with...Alwyn Wall on guitar, and...you guessed, The Barratt Band. So Norman and his boys did three sets in one evening. Earning their money, or what?!

  Sorry about that.

Think about Kingston, it'll be a blast.

Just got in from the Manchester gig ...

Loved it, loved it, loved it!!!! But perhaps I'd better stop sitting on the fence

It's been a while since I've managed to get to a gig (due to work and distance to venues), so it was great to have ATF back up in the north. But I couldn't believe that it was almost 6 years since they played that first gig in Stafford!!! How time flies! And sadly how time flew through their set tonight. Wished there had been time for more.

Now before you ask for a set list, I can only have a go from memory, which at my age is bound to be dodgy. Now these aren't in the right order, and I'm sure I've forgotten some, but here goes...

  • Sometimes
  • High Fashion
  • Dungeon Ghyll
  • One Rule
  • You are the reason (well it had reason somewhere in there - one of Rob's songs - bear in mind this is the first time I've heard him with the band)
  • Dancing in the Shadows
  • Billy Billy
  • Der Kommisar
  • Laser Love
  • Life in the City
  • Check it out (encore - after teaser of Starflight intro)
This was after Bill Mason Band (blast from the late 70s, early 80s) and Movement Family (blast from the mid 70s). It took a while to get the audience going during ATF's set, and I did wonder if they were needing a nap at one stage, but by Laser Love they had been revitalised, and it was just like old times.

Will probably have more reflections in the morning. Just to say. I'm so glad my job took me to this gig. And in case you're wondering about that, rather than me explain... if you can spare me two minutes, just check out this video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFzPS8C7pQY - it could change a life!

Malcolm, Rob's song is called simply "You".
Missed the gig immensely, but a combination of jetlag, work pressure and some very erratic blood sugars forced me to stay at home. Grr.

My daughter said - 'hundred times better than the last time she saw ATF.'

Now on her own account Maths will never be her strongest suit, but an interesting multiple none the less (it was her fourth sighting of the band.)

Special evening, thanks to all involved.

Bloketwothirdsofthewayback??!!

ps see they had a work experience lass on the cd sales.

It's a bit worrying, because that means last time the band were a hundred times worse.... (that can't be right , can it?)

Or does this involve another kind of maths?
