Regarding "1980-F" I must say that it was really BIG over here in Germany. As Mick mentioned it was the beginning/end theme of an Entertain/Pop show called "Na sowas !" which I think no one of my friends missed at that time. Everyone knew it and the show ran nearly the whole 80's. When explaining who was After the fire you had only to refer to "Na sowas !". It's because of that popularity "1980-F" is on at least half a dozen compilations of Tv themes or party hits.

During the eighties I was a fanatic radio listener and the programmes which featured the song were nearly countless. All in all it could be said Peter built a  monument with that instrumental tune.

There were two instrumentals that the BBC used to use while showing lists of programmes, pretty sure the other one was Timestar.

And of course Der Kommissar was used recently in a Friends episode in a flash back to the eighties!  I believe it made the band very cool with the younger generation!

It's interesting to note that in the three CBS albums, ATF had about 3
intstrumental songs and all of them were used quite often as
background music and so on. I am really surpirsed they were used
that much, wow.

There was a movie a few years ago called The Wedding Singer and I
think "Der Kommissar" was in it although it didn't make the
soundtrack.

I was watching a re-run of Friends recently and, appropriately given the prog's title, Der K was heard as background music in one scene.

The Friends episode featuring Der K is the one which features Danny Devito as a stripper - not sure what it is called though..."The One With The Stripper"??  Not a Friends fan, sorry!

Scrubs (series 5 I think) also made a blink-and-you'll-miss-it mention of Der Kommissar, although the song they were actually playing was The Safety Dance by Men Without Hats.  But I'm guessing this was a reference to ATF as opposed to Falco, since it was ATF who took it to the top of the charts in the US!

Which reminds me: does anybody know who else was in the top 10 when Der K got to number 5?  I'd be interested to know who kept ATF from the top spot.  Not that I'm going to send them a poo in a bag or anything, honest!

I'll get my coat...
