I remember the Friends episode - I was stunned as I didn't think ATF made it to the US. Anyway, someone appears to have uploaded it to YouTube for posterity - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A66J53VNg8I
You'd like to think that the boys got some royalties from this but they would almost certainly have just got a single PRS type payment. There's continuing discussion about re-run and DVD fees (particularly for actors) but currently they get nothing as far as I know, even though the distributors make millions.
Of course, nobody gets anything from videos on YouTube, but that's another story.

You obviously weren't in the USA on holiday in June 1983! I was and became a firm ATF fan as I heard Der Kommissar everywhere I went. Prior to that holiday Laser Love was the only ATF song I knew.
Two years later I was in Munich watching Everton play Bayern in the Cup-Winners' Cup semi-final and 1980-F was playing during certain announcements.
