Life in the city it was just after school
Stuck in detention and was feeling a fool
Somebody shouted to send me to Poole
I’ve never been there but I heard it is cool!
Oh oh oh oh, one of the southern people
Oh oh oh oh, no one knows who to blame now!
Those kind of people just tell me I’m northern
Old cobbled streets and the clogs we were born in
Watching the ground all the time that I’m walking
Eyes open wide in case of something I walk in!
Oh oh oh oh, some of the southern people
Oh oh oh oh, no one knows if we’re tame now!
Across the field there’s an open gate
With some sheep walking over the road
Flat hats and pies and our pants held by cord
Nobody cares because we live above Watford
Oh oh oh oh, not one of the southern people
Oh oh oh oh, no one knows of the shame now!
If I remember correctly, the coat was a Parka
Fur round the front and words written in marker
Hiding my face and my daddies old braces
The smell was quite rich and is smelt from five paces!
Oh oh oh oh, not one of the southern people
Oh oh oh oh, nobody knows of our fate now!
