Mick

Getting back to the original subject of the thread, had you been able to what would your top ten tracks to play on the show have been?

That is a horrible question!  Won't include ATF

I think a top five in no particular order (from the period) would read like this:

Just the Job - Fears of the Years  (still have the sigle - brilliant sound)
Larry Norman                                (too many!)
Vatten - The Dreamer                      (always enjoyed the heavy side)
Bryn Haworth - We're all one        (some great tracks on commercial albums)
Writz - Muscle Culture                     (who else could do this)

Other bands have to include Bill Mason Band, Jerusalem & Randy Stonehill.

My main musical influences, over the years, have been: Pete Townsend, Paul Weller, Rainbow (Down to Earth lineup),  Foo Fighters, REM, Nirvana and Bruce Springsteen.

A bit of a mix I know.

Aw, Mick. Nice choices. Now you've started something. How can one resist a thread like that. Ok. From that era only? Maybe a favourite year. So, for me, 1979. My top five could be:

1. Mr G - Bill Mason Band (fantastic intro)

2. Song of the Last Generation - Ish United (rough and raw)

3. Can You Get Me Out Of Here? - Adrian Snell (don't laugh)

4. City Boy - Bryn Haworth (album version, single was different)

5. He Is Lord - Amaziah (my school friend was on a rock lp - i couldnt believe it)

6. Carrie  - Cliff (love this)

7. Super Heroes - Writz (yes, i too used to air guitar this one)

8. Serve Somebody - Bob (remember the wonderment when he came over to the light)

9. Kingdom Come - Giantkiller (terrible prod - singer was Billy Penns Brother)

10. Life In The City - ATF (i'd just started Uni and this song was perfect for a lonely student)

OK, so that was 10. I don't know what it was about that year, but everything fell into place. The music exploded. GB had it's first R1 visit, and record crowd expansion. And ccm was hitting the charts as never before.

Thanks Mick and Julian, now to keep the thread going here are my ten in no particular order avoiding ATF but there is some repeat of artists already mentioned above.

Moral Support - Sin

Writz - Muscle Culture

Bryn Haworth - Standing on the rock

Just the Job - Movies

U2 - I will follow

Rev Counta and the Speedoze - The Marksman

Liberation Suite - You are Worthy

Steve Taylor - We Don't need no colour code

The Predators - Plastic Surgeon

Talking Drums - Fighting to the finish

Not quite making the cut are

Deliverance - Leaving LA (a band with an ATF connection),  Giant Killer - Innocent Blood.

All of the above i have on vinyl or tape somewhere and even though I may not have played them for a while they are tracks that stick in the mind.
