Just cutting some tracks together for a pub quiz (can't tell you
where and when - that'd be unfair) but one of them is Aretha
Franklin's "Say A Little Prayer".
Anyone think there's a more gorgeous song out there ? The
test is what it does to the hairs on the back of your neck, I
suppose and Aretha singing Bacharach does it for me.

When the guitar finally arrives in "Lucrecia (my reflection)". "Gethsemanae" from "Jesus Christ Superstar" (especially with Ian Gillan singing Jesus). The solo in "Sultans of Swing". The "Baby Baby Baby" at the the start of "Cum on feel the noize". The "baby" in Kirsty MacColl's "They don't know". "Joy".

In short, any really good music should have at least one of those moments.

Paul.

The very beginning of side 1 of Tales From Topgraphic Oceans, distant chant by Jon Anderson slowly building to Rick Wakeman's synthesizer entrance... pure magic! If I had more hair it would stand up for sure.

Madbear, did you hear/get the most recent remaster of Topographic Oceans, the one that came out in 2003?  There's an extra two minutes of music on the beginning of that track, before Jon's chant begins! (Very ambient: starts with the sound of the wind, then some barely audible keyboards, then Steve Howe playing some almost horizontal guitar before Jon appears.) I was very surprised when I first played it, because there's nothing on the CD cover to indicate that the track is any different.

Very bizzare I know, but, Hurt sung by Johnny Cash.  I have never liked (still don't) country music but this cover of the Nine Inch Nales song blows me away.

The video was shot 2 months before his wife died and 4 months before he died.

Dear Dixarn 2, indeed I did get the reissues - mainly to replace the dreadful original CD version of Relayer which is my favourite ever Yes LP. Can't say I thought the extra ambient stuff helped...  there was some discussion of it on the Yes websites at the time. No one seemed sure if they'd simply used the wrong master or version or not!

what's even weirder is parts 1-3 on cd1 and part 4 on 2nd cd. ah well, i shouldnt listen to old hippy progrock should I?
