Sorry lads, I wrote the other verse on the train last night. Just writing the backing track now (incase ATF don't use it, I will use it myself with permission for the chorus I hope although I will probably use the extended version Keith)

Here's my effort - no giggling at the back...

I've heard the songs about roads

Which go on and on forever

And I've heard that traveller's tune

There and back again - whatever

And I started on my own tale

Which ended at the beginning

Chasing mine, might as well have been

For all the mess that I was in

Back home now, it's been a while

An open door, the warmest smile

There's a streetmap in here somewhere

And a compass in a drawer

I took to the road without them

Confident, foot to the floor

I'll not be staying long, y'know

But I'll take that map when I go

Wow!

There's 3 brilliant bits of work here. I'm really impressed with the quality. We definitely have a superior quality of forum member here! Maybe we should start a collective pool of lyrics? - it's always hard to get ideas. People could just note down their musings for others to use/work with.

Absolutely - if we get credits!

Okay - how about this "bit of fun" (!) tentatively called Legend...

VERSE 1-

Joani and Pieter were musos by trade

Who escaped the past through a boredom blockade

Ivan the Nibbler was in hot pursuit

And Keith and Matti, who were both kind of cute

The racket they made was not to be missed

Assembling a team of fat lads to assist

the band hatched a plan to - listen to this!

a plan to support one rule for trade justice

BRIDGE -

And Chloe appeared with a plate of scoff

So they sat down and ate, called the music off

CHORUS-

After The Fire, a still small voice,

This rag tag bunch are our band of choice

Fortified by banana cake,

They're a 30 year habit that are hard to break

Next verse anybody?!  I suggest we need to incorporate the words "I'll get my coat"...

I am looking out for a jet plane

Don't want to see this anymore

Talking bout food is making me insane

Chloe in verse, my brain's getting sore

can we forsee the answer to life

Can we escape this messing with rhyme

do we exist keeping this site alive

or do we have nothing to do with our time?

This ain't songwriting! You've gotta have the tune first or at the same time otherwise it's poetry!!!! (Or at least that's the way I used to do it!!!)

[Made it!!! 100!!!!]

Not neccessarily. I don't play any instruments but the way I work is to take my musings to a rehearsal and try to overlay them onto music. With FfF, Pete took one look at the lyrics and instantly had a tune pop into his head. Inspiration comes in many forms...

Point taken. I was just being a bit provocative!! Wink And just trying to get over the 100 mark!!!

I guess I find it difficult looking at a lyric without having an idea of the music, since for me music and lyric are equally important. So when people are contributing lyrics, please can they hum the tune and write that down!

Hmmmm, hmmmmm, hmmm hmmm, hmmmmmmmmm  Confused
