OK guys - let's get set up for bombarding radio programmes with requests to play the new single. How about sending in details of 'request' progs on national and regional radio: suggest if you can state:

  • station name
  • programme name/presenters name
  • how to make requests - email address, text numbers, phone numbers
  • whether requests can be made outside of programme time or only when it's broadcasting
  • day/time programme is on

Let's see if we can build up a decent database to start targetting. Any leads on likely sympathetic hearing would be great. Let's get to it!!!

Ok, I know I'm in South Africa but maybe from small acorns etc....

South Africa is the only country where ATF had a number one, so why not bombard the biggest radio station www.highveld.co.za put the vote on the top8 with this we could get another chart entry. I am told if we do 50-100 votes we will get it into the weekly top 30. Der Komissar is played every week on Highveld. You can say alot of bad things about South Africans but they put ATF at the top.

On my part I've emailed the press release to every DJ on highveld, 5FM and Jacaranda thats 35 emails so far.

A bit more effort needed here - is that what they said at school?

C'mon guys! we got to this point because of you. We are so grateful for the love and support. One more push and I think we could tip this thing over. You have been SO loyal to the band that you should be rewarded in the bands' view. Any ideas? Would  a shares scheme be worth looking at?

OK let's do this scientifically.

Which shows on Radios 1 and 2 do requests? C'mon you hip guys'n'gals!!! I've been covering the West Midland stations for the FUN event, so it would help if someone else could do the legwork on the national stations.

Who should I put in touch......

OK. Have now started making requests for the single to be played. Obviously there's Radios 1 and 2 accessed via the BBC website: www.bbc.co.uk

Local to me I've started to plague:

Beacon FM West Midlands - http://beaconfm.musicradio.com

Beacon FM Shropshire - http://beaconshropshire.musicradio.com

Heart FM - http://www.heart1007.co.uk/ (now it's worth plaguing Nick Piercey who's on from 4-7pm cos he can remember the 80s band, also I sent him the promo single)

Signal 1 - http://www.signal1.co.uk/

Signal 2 - http://www.signal2.co.uk/

The Wolf - http://www.thewolf.co.uk/ - they've got a MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY banner on their website so remind them of that!!

You can generally find who's on air from these sites and can then email them, but it would be really good for some other people to be requesting these stations other than me!!!!

If you need to find out local radio stations contact details go to http://www.mediauk.com/directory/radio/
