This is SPAM. Of sorts. But hopefully, it’s ethically backed spam!

I’m sure you have seen or heard something about Trade Justice or MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY recently, what with LIVE8 and other campaigns.

The band AFTER THE FIRE has released a single for Christian Aid in support of their Trade Justice initiative which is part of the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign.

Here is one example of why we need to support trade justice; 

• 90% of cocoa is produced by developing countries.

• How much chocolate do you think they produce? It’s only 4%.

• Why? Because there is no EU tariff on cocoa, but the EU tariff on processed chocolate is 18%, twice the average profit margin.

Trade justice? 

This is just one example of why we in the west need to become more aware of Trade Justice and the benefits it will have for developing countries.
