...and just to clarify where Dalit Freedom Network fits in - we are a completely separate charity from Life Association. We also do education (100 schools across India), healthcare (2 AIDS clinics, 2 mobile clinics, 50 commmunity healthcare workers), and we alse do vocational training, adult literacy, microfinance, women's empowerment, etc etc all to help Dalits escape from the cycle of poverty and discrimination. However the biggest difference is that we are focusing on the trafficking of India's Dalits - they make up almost half of all those trafficked in the world today. This is why a major part of our work is advocacy - lobbying MPs, speaking up on behalf of Dalits, creating a vocie that speaks up on behalf of the voiceless - and we're looking for Dalit Freedom Champions who will join us, lobby their MP, spread the message etc etc. Find out more at www.dfn.org.uk

We have a good relationship with Life Association - Dalit candles were on sale at our launch event, and Simon very kindly let us have a stand at the Manchester gig.

Life's Treasures is a mother and daughter business selling items produced mainly by women from vulnerable situations in various parts of the world. They sell Dalit Candles at events and online. They also sell anti-trafficking bracelets with a proportion going to DFN, plus a variety of goods from the Lydia Project (which gives work to Dalit women rescued from abusive situations) including scarves etc.

Hope that clarifies

...and I meant to say, the Dalit Candles sold by Life's Treasures supports the work of Life Association.

Isn't that a David Cassidy song ?!

I have ordered some today Maggie, they should be delivered to me by the end of next week, ie. well in time for the next gig.

Zippy hugs to you all.
