Have to say that if you like acoustic stuff that night will be excellent with
Three Daft Monkeys and Phil Beer on the bill as well.

If you want to check my solo stuff goto www.robhalligan.co.uk or watch
stuff at www.youtube.com/halligan.

Plug plug plug plug plug!

Are you playing alone or along with the other guys? Seems like a good day anyway, I might be able to make it.

When are ATF playing again near Burgess Hill? I want to see you guys again.

Hi Richard, do you mean you're going to Hounslow?  Enjoy!

We're looking forward to seeing Rob and Gareth when they come to Cambridge the week after Martlets Hall.

I am absolutley gutted to have missed the Haiti gigs - I didn't even know this was going on and last saw ATF at Leicester Uni in about 1981.

Please do something else again soon!

Hey, Zippy, don't change your face - life on the forum just wouldn't be the same! Petethehepps45 is clearly a gentleman, and has done the honourable thing.

(I tried to put a seagull as my picture earlier on, and that didn't work eitherCry. Hey, Mr Administrator, you've got just about every other form of bird life on offer- couldn't you fix me up a nice seagull pic? Wink

But seriously:

I'm facinated to see how these new young fans have latched on with such enthusiasm. I first saw ATF almost 30 years ago, and when I recently discovered that they were on the go again I had to mentally adjust somewhat - I mean you can't get used to ATF without Andy Piercy in the blink of an eye.... but I soon realised that they still had it, and I appreciated that they didn't try to be only what they were, but what they are. The injection of new blood has worked well, and its great that Rob can take on A.P.'s vocals with authority, whilst remaining very much himself. I guess the proof of the pudding is in the reaction of these young folk (& maybe some older ones too?)who have just seen ATF for the first time, and responded with such enthusiasm.

I'd certainly encourage the newbies to check out the old clips on Youtube (I think thats right), just to get the fuller picture - and marvel how young & handsome they looked!Smile My favourites are from the Rock goes to College concert, especially "Take me Higher", where you'll see Banksy (probably in questionable trousers) at his very best!

Love, Seagull

Yes. Not long now. My first Rob concert. Yay!

Seagull - yes, it's great to see the resurgence of interest.

"life on the forum..."  Sounds like a song...

(cont.).... not to mention an awesome rendition of Billy Billy where John really shines. In those days he had a jacket where the front bit (lapels?) seemed to elude reality... but the playing was great - and still is by all accounts! Pete King's rocksteady rhythm held everything so tightly together without dominating. A.P.'s dynamic bass playing was obviously very much upfront (in contrast to the present, retiring 'tea chest and broomstick man'Wink who shuns the limelight!) and how he played and sang lead at the same time amazes me (speaking as a somewhat limited basist).

So, newbies young and old, for the best overview, I'd say its certainly worth getting hold of the Radio Sessions - and if you're truely dedicated, Signs of Change (then you'll understand where the tribute band S.O.C. are coming from - and where ATF came from). And as mentioned, there's some good stuff to be found on the internet. That's how I got to find out what the band are doing these days, and it's all part of a whole!

(P.S.I notice there's an interesting question about Billy, Billy over on ATF Chat)

Sorry, me again. This is a bit off subject, but I've just noticed that our latest member appears to be a hundred years old - born 1910. Do I need glasses, or are congratulations in order - or is this a wind up?

Welcome, anyway, mideedure!

That's cool, although it's probably just somebody
entering a fake age.

About the younger ones joining (like me), I think that
the energy of the live performance definitely played a
huge part of liking the band. If I had stumbled across
them on Youtube, I probably wouldn't have been such a big
fan. I've check out the old performances, they all certainly look very different!
