What he's basically saying here, Maggie, is: We woz robbed! (but not in the Halligan sense)

His previous showing off was merely a translation of what came to hand i.e. my forum signature. Shame we can't accuse him of just googling it, but he's too good!

Thanks for the tips, Mark. For Maggie's benefit, I've brightened up this quote box - can anyone spot the theme.....?

Brilliant......thanks for those answers.

Sounds like a safe environment to watch the game.....don't be too coy as to accept their heartfelt congratulations when we beat them.

N.A.

Should the ridiculous situation arise and England not win then feel free to say you consider yourself a German now and wallow in the celebrations.

Well, I didn't wallow as such, but I had to keep warding off (happy)commiserations, even though I was actually feeling happy for the Germans. They certainly deserved to win, and their goals were a joy to watch (except for most England fans, perhaps!)

I was in Germany for the last world cup and went to see Germany play Sweden in Munich......it was great to see a proud national identity really emerge again which I hadn't seen from German supporters before.

National identity seems to entail painting or dressing yourself in black, red and yellow from head to foot, and doing the same for your car!

Football, wether you love it or hate it or are just indifferent about it there is no denying that it can be a powerful tool to bring people and indeed nations together.

Love and peace to all(except Germans for between 3pm and 4.45 tommorow)

Mark

They were so happy after the match, you would have thought they'd just won the final!Maybe this was more important..?

Thanks for your thoughts from Germany after the match...very interesting.

We were well and truly beaten so no complaints there.

I've often said we can learn from the German approach but it generally falls on deaf ears.

Also it should be brought up again the fact that it is a German premier team that run out to ATF each game.....like I said we could learn somthing from them.

Mark

Very good Seagull, but the yellow is very hard on the eyes.

I can't think what bird you could dress up as; a toucan doesn't quite do it!

Very impressive quote box, Seagull...... I promise to do something similar if
Andy Murray wins Wimbledon this year!!

(I don't realistically think you need to feel challenged by that!!)

Can you remind me of the team and the ATF track, please, Dominion? Do
you know if it still gets played or was it only for a limited time?

(Just to try and impress the football fanatics in our family, of course!!)

O dear! I told my family it was Germany, the national team. I should pay more attention! I thought I almost caught a glimmer of respect (for ATF) in their eyes  when I told them... but I'm not sure...

Presumably we're talking about 1980 F ? I was amazed to hear it as shop music afew years ago, but have since realised that it's been used as a popular TV theme tune  (Wetten dass...) - as Dominion has also previously pointed out. So ATF is kind of subliminally lodged in the collective German Psyche...(maybe).

Sorry about the Yellow, Jennie. When I read it back, I thought it said "and doing the same for your cat"! (not many cats would tolerate it!)

Ah! Memories of the 1985 European Cup Winners' Cup semi-final, Bayern
Munich v. Everton. I was there and delighted to hear ATF playing.

I think it was 1980-F, but it was a long time ago!
