Should the ridiculous situation arise and England not win then feel free to say you consider yourself a German now and wallow in the celebrations.
Well, I didn't wallow as such, but I had to keep warding off (happy)commiserations, even though I was actually feeling happy for the Germans. They certainly deserved to win, and their goals were a joy to watch (except for most England fans, perhaps!)
I was in Germany for the last world cup and went to see Germany play Sweden in Munich......it was great to see a proud national identity really emerge again which I hadn't seen from German supporters before.
National identity seems to entail painting or dressing yourself in black, red and yellow from head to foot, and doing the same for your car!
Football,wether you love it or hate it or are just indifferent about it there is no denying that it can be a powerful tool to bring people and indeed nations together.
