It's a summer phenomenon, Kevyn. It's the migrating season, don't you know? I've just landed, back from a spell in old Blighty. How are you all doing?

I remember back in the 70's, in a Dutch band called Focus
(Sylvia, Hocus Pocus etc) had a keyboard player called
Thijs Van Leer who changed his first name to Thys,
because the Americans couldn't cope with some one with ij
in their name.

Unlike someone we know - he still plays a Hammond.

Thanks for that link, Seagull, it brings back happy memories of seeing Focus at the Cambridge Rock Festival last year (or was it the year before?!) I'm not sure how many of the originals there were, most of them seemed young, but it was the same keyboard player and he still does a mean yodel, even if he is nearly forty years older! We don't remember that he did the whistling though, perhaps he's lost the capacity! ;-)

The drummer from their most famous period - Pierre van der
Linden would have been playing.
Sadly, bassist Bert Reuter or the legendary guitarist Jan
Akkerman are no longer with them, although Jan still does
brilliant solo tours, occasionally coming to the UK.
