Someone beat me to it! But I was going to call my thread "Cambridge
Revue" (that's my sense of humour for you). I hope DerekAC made it,
because the whole set was superb on Friday - from the opening note to
the closing one.
Some people might say that ATF are approachable, but in reality they did
the approaching! I was standing outside the ladies' toilet (waiting for my
wife, honest!) when Ian walked out of the bar and said "All right. Mark
isn't it?". Then at the interval Banksy came over and asked my wife if she
was all right because she appeared to have her finger in her ear during
the first half. She was actually resting her head in her hand, but it was
kind of him to notice and show concern.
And I mustn't forget the lady who was checking names off at the door.
She recognized my name from this forum. I'd like to think it's because of
the quality of my posts, but I think it's probably the distinctive surname.
In Keith's defence, I like the Greenbelt CD and DVD, although his voice
isn't anything like Andy's: Rob is much better from that respect. If a new
CD ever comes out I hope that "Forged From Faith", complete with Keith's
vocal, will be included. I used to enjoy listening to that on ATF's MySpace
page, and have missed it (although I have got the acoustic version on the
Greenbelt CD).
I'm looking forward to Normanton now!

I forgot to mention what a great showman Rob is. As a Squeeze fan, it's
definitely a compliment when I say that Rob reminded me of Glenn Tilbrook.
During "Old and Fat and Ugly" he leapt off stage, thrust a microphone in the
face of the person standing behind me, and told him to sing! It was a great
relief to me and my wife that it was the person behind me and not me! Trust
me, you don't want to hear me sing!

As has been said above probably the best gig since the reformation, and I had been to seven of the previous ones. This gig showcased why ATF are a great live act. The band are not afraid to try new things and give some songs their first live airing, and you know that with a lot of the songs you are not just going to get a copy of the studio version. Tims Drums on Bright Ligthts and in both Can you face it and Wild West Show. Pete showing his talent for persussion in WWS, Johns Guitar in Billy Billy, I could go on.
I was fortunate to hear Rob doing some of the vocal at Coventry last year and he didn't disappoint my expectation.
I expect that over the years this song will be remembered fondly by those who were there and talk about it, and those unable to be there will live in regret.

I think you have missed the point, assuming you're
directing that at my earlier post. If not, my apologies.
I didn't say Keith was terrible. In fact, his vocals on
Forged from Faith were much better because he was
involved in the writing process. What I did say was that
Keith did not live up to the ATF legacy, which I don't
particularly like to say because I have met him on a few
occasions and he's a real nice guy. We only have the
work he did with ATF to go by really and on a number of
occasions (more than just one offs), I definitely felt
that the vocals would be best done by someone else. He
didn't seem to be able to remember the words, bearing in
mind they were always on the screen in front of him and
also always seemed short of confidence.
This isn't me having a dig, just "Constructive
Criticism". And I think that ATF have definitely come a
long way since Keith.

I wasn't replying to your post, but apology not necessary anyway. I was replying to Paul, who said he was "sorely disappointed" with Keith and only managed to listen to two songs on the Greenbelt DVD.
I only found out that the group had reformed last year and saw them for the first time at Pontefract. I never saw them with Keith and am surprised to learn that he couldn't remember the words. Maybe that explains why he's no longer with them.
Last word on Keith (for now!): I like his tribute to Pete King, Peter (listed as Gena 2004 on the DVD and CD).

Hi Guys,
Got to say I think I chose the right gig here.
It was a bit of a drive but well worth it.
This is the sort of venue I want to see the band in and I think the band are at their best in this type of venue.
I have been critical of some venue choices since the reformation but the sound and atmosphere here was fantastic.
Band.....please please bear this in mind for future dates.I note the money and tour issues that Banksy has kindly shared on this forum but if you're gonna play and you've got to pay to play ......then play more clubby type venues .....please.

No, I was the guy at the back with the large lens :-)
I was testing a 5D mark II to see what it could do in low light, and I was quite impressed :-)
I did sneak up front with a smaller lens after the interval for a few minutes, but I was probably on the other side?
