I didn't know John had a strong opinion on that! Care to tell me?

Would it seem really sad to say I'm about to go on to Amazon to buy a book called "MAC OS X for Unix Geeks"? It would? I won't tell you then!

Do a search on the topics for 'Mac Owners' it was a while ago and quite informative (not on the subject, just seeing the interplay between Mac users and the rest of civilisation!) In short though, John is a Mac user most of the rest are not and our old, if silent thesedays, friend Dixarn has a fasination with coats!

If I could understand the title I would probably try to make a funny comment (and fail miserably as usual) about it! Any one with the interpretation?

Unix is an operating system that I use extensively at work. The latest operating system for Macs is based on unix. Being a unix geek, I like to use the command line rather than GUIs, because it's faster and more powerful.

Translation for the really computer illiterate:

command line - type it in rather than using a mouse
GUI - picture!

Unfortunately that search only brings up this thread . Shame, as it sounds interesting (geek mode again!).

Thanks. Still like mud to me! Never mind, talking about mud, I saw them twice in the 70's! Great live, The Town crept in, beat Leeds and got out again ... ... New song at Huddersfield!

How's that for 2 off the subject comment on a none subject reply!

Thanks Noel. An entertaining thread. Something to read while I'm waiting for my find command to complete (sorry! Unix geek mode again!).

I do agree MS are to power as well, to be honest as I have never used a Mac I cannot give an objective judgement on their relative merits.

I guess one of my main objections to Apple corp is the format of itunes downloads, and having to buy their ipod to take the music with me.
