WAHOO!!!

What a great evening.  Superb performance from everyone, with many highlights...

...but a great big thank you for a standout Billy Billy.  John your solo still rocks!!

I'd love to see the full setlist if someone has it, as my aging memory not so good these days.

Thanks to all the band.  Roll on Autumn Tour 2009 and another return to Farncombe (Please!!).

Martyn

Yes, quite a surprise with a very different set list from last year.
I think I've got it all except the one(or two?) including the lyrics
"you want it all" and "you're the reason that I live", it started with a couple of lines like  "You, you're ....

Also Rob's first one that he did with Matt, forgot to write that one down.
Must admit I had to back to the CD as some from Batteries which I was less familiar with.

Rob did a great job on lead vocals, quite an Andy-ish sound on many of them as fits the songs and the memories.

Thanks chaps!

Just read Rob's blog. The tracks must be "You" (as performed on BBC Wales I assume - where/who is it from?) and Elena.  So I think I have the full set. Would it spoil it for others to post it before the end of the our though? After all, were some surprises in there.

To begin, I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed the Farncombe gig on Fri night. The 2nd half in particular was so good that I'm left pondering the following personal thoughts, which perhaps one of the band might care to comment on..............

Give or take, it must be around 30yrs since I was first watching ATF as a teenager at the likes of Farnborough Tech College & Guildford University, & the power, edge & intensity of those shows was fantastic & still lingers fondly in the memory even today. Now, I know that time passes, circumstances change & age mellows, but having seen & heard how good the band & the songs still are, I'm wondering if ATF have the desire & inclination to up the ante somewhat & reach out to a new generation beyond the confines of church halls ? I ask this respectfully, because I know the importance of their faith, but 30yrs ago my mates & I went to their gigs & bought their records because we liked their music & performances, not because of any religious inclination. ATF still have the talent & if they want it, then I'm sure there is a new, bigger audience out there waiting for them, but if so they'll need to generate more PR, get some radio time, play larger venues(&/or festivals), act as support to bigger, modern groups & maybe even cut a new cd !

How about combining the above ideas into a 30yr reunion tour with Andy back on vocals ?  Now that would be something to stir the soul  !!

Well.... you make some very good points Neil...

Let me respond as follows:

Desire = 100% (you cannot have more!)
Inclination = 100% (ditto!)
FINANCE = ???

We would LOVE to go out there again in style but sadly I think we have to face some hard commercial facts and consider them a higher priority than nostalgia...

We hope we are going to break even on these dates, the more people turn up the more likely that becomes. Generally our fee is based on a small fixed amount plus a percentage when we exceed a figure that is the total of our fee plus promoters costs. Also, generally, the promoter only makes their money if peeps come and their job is not an easy one!

The other aspect of our new incarnation is all the generosity of everyone in the band family... what would you think we should personally get from a gig versus what we actually get (round and perfectly formed)?! Plus we pay for ALL our equipment from our own pockets as well as playing for less than expenses...

So you can see our committment is massive and that is simply because we love doing it! Playing our music and being loved... what more could old geezers want?!

We are really grateful for all your reviews and must stress we read and take notice!

Bless Ya!

I have to agree with the previous posts - it was a stonking gig last Friday and took me back to the heady days of Surrey Uni (thankfully without finding my skidlid filled with unknown fluid at the end of the evening).

Clearly not just us wrinklies who enjoyed it - took my 15 year old son last year, this year he brought one of his pals too. Both came away having enjoyed a fantastic evening.

Banksy, thanks for posting yr reply above.

Whilst I understand & respect yr financial concerns, I would nonetheless urge you to crank it up in 2009 & reach out to a new generation if at all possible - ATF's talent, songs & showmanship deserve it !!
