Not being there I cannot say the song you are talking about, however a song titled "Hallelujah" was written by Leonard Cohen, covered by Jeff Buckley, and Rufus Wainwright to name but two. I believe it is the Wainwright version that feature on the soundtrack to Shrek, and one episode of The West Wing had another version in its background music.
This past week radio 2 having playing trailers for a choral programme which has a choir singing it Hallelujah in the background.

Ah yes thanks Kevin, that'll be the one. I knew it was well known!
Back to ATF's own songs - anyone know what I mean by the long one in the first half?

I've just seen the blogs.......I can't wait for Friday. I just hope the "lads" won't be on their last legs by then!!!
Well, Timestar, you'll be glad to know that I have my husband geared up to record the gig, as best he can. (He has even just bought, in preparation, what looks like an extending washing-line prop, to save his arm from falling off. ...As you can see I speak as a technophobe!!)
Said husband saw Rufus Wainwright in concert in Ipswich last Thursday. He performed Hallelujah and it was, quote, '....absolutely stonking,' in spite of the fishnets!!!! So, Pete, no pressure, but that could be such fun, I dare you!!!!
BTW, Pete, are we likely to encounter any problem with the tides?
(Have just been informed that it is a monopod, which makes sense I suppose!!)
Roll on Friday!! Woo Hoo!!

I know the 'unplugged' parts are different (I wasn't there, but will be at Pontefract), however don't we find it great that the band is finding new energy? We can't expect - or even want - everything to be exactly as it was. What I like about the changes is the fact it reflects the band's creativity. They want to go further into their own material, as well as re-learn material. They're also encouraging new material from others (Rob Halligan etc), and supporting good causes. I think this is what makes ATF2 so purposeful. What I like about the new 'take' on the material is that it helps demonstrate to us how songs - and especially these songs - have been put together, and how they can be varied. Any of this make sense?

Yay, lufcman, I fully concur.....well, after all, it is Autumn!!.......... (SORRY!!!)
As I've said before, somewhere in this forum, I loved the 70s/80s ATF music etc, but I so enjoy the non-predictability of what they're about now. They're moving on, quite rightly, because they are creative and tallented musicians, receptive to new ideas...........which brings me back to the fishnet tights, Pete!!!!!!
YAY, ............it's Midnight, so it's now only TWO days until the Mersea gig!!
(BTW, monopod and camera both in place, alongside my ATF fleece, in readiness for Friday, Timestar!!)

HELP....I need up to date tide info asap, please, as it seems that the road may be flooded at high tide, around midnight, due to the present conditions!!
After all the recent rave reviews I don't want to miss the gig, but I don't want to get stranded either!!! (I'm too old and fat and ugly to go skinny dipping!!)

Maggie, you cannot do that, your video recorder would get wet! As for Old, Fat and Ugly, no ATF fan is that. I could suggest a few who are getting close but ... ...
And another thing, it would be dark so no one would see you anyway!

Thanks for some reassurance about the qualities of an ATF-fan, Noel, but I
wouldn't want to risk being caught by some ATF techie with one of these new-
fangled iphones, cos they probably include an inbuilt night-vision camera, for all I
know!!!
Anyway, according to Pete's recent e-mail it sounds as though there may, if
necessary, be a tea and toast and toilets post-gig party, until the tide recedes!!!!!
