Really enjoyed last night at Coventry. A great evening. Really good atmosphere and ATF and Rob Halligan were excellent.

Was such a nostalgic night for me. First saw ATF at Greenbelt sometime in the late 70's, then was involved in them coming to the Brewhouse in Taunton and last saw them at Birmingham Uni in around 1980. Took my then girlfriend and we've now been married 25 years so it is some time ago! Couldn't persuade her to come last night (being a head teacher in a special school she's too knackered for midweek concerts) but she had to contend with some impromptu renditions of old ATF numbers when I got home!

ATF's music has always picked me up when I've needed it. Became a Christian in 1976 and in those early 'fresh moments' of doubt the music/words were such an inspiration. Gone on to spend whole career working in mental health (social work) and running a faith based project around mental health and homelessness so really liked the song that was done about working in tough situations.

Over recent years Martyn Joseph has been a great inspiration to me (also great Show of Hands fan so loved their song last night!). Last night made me realise how much musicians/music can carry you and inspire you through tough times. ATF have carried me for so many years and last night was such a lift.

Thought the music was great-everyone was on form but loved the sense of fun as well-'Old and Fat and Ugly' was a bit close to home for some of us in the audience. Loved the change of lyric in 'Don't put me down just because I was a youth'

I thought the mix of music and the acoustic stuff worked well. It would be wrong to turn the clock back (much as we'd like to do at times) but thought last night caught the whole inspirational feel of ATF.

After a heavy day (I now manage mental health services in Coventry) it was a great boost in the middle of the week. Thanks for a memorable evening and for years of carrying me when needed.

Great gig in Coventry!  What about coming to Peterborough next tour?  It's reminded me of how good you guys were, and still are!  You deserved more success - great lyrics and music.  And where have the years gone?!

I have already posted my thoughts on the acoustic debate elsewhere so here are some more thoughts on last night.

I picked Coventry as it best fitted my diary and I wanted to hear Rob live having heard some of his material via the internet. He did not disappoint, I thought his backing band that he used for the last three songs of his set were awesome. Does his use of them make him the new Ishmael for the 21st century

Okay we didn't get to hear all our favourites (no Joy) but on the other hand with the new arrangements and hearing Sometimes and Sailing Ship live for the first time in 25 years was great.

Laser Love, Life in the City, Help, and Starflight which were all done plugged in I thought particularly rocked.

Rob Halligan I thought fitted in really well when he joined the band to add some vocals Der Kom and Carry me Home in particular.

The cover of Sit Down with Rob at the end of his set was great.

Having seen ATF a fair numbers of times over the last three and a bit years my impression is that these guy love playing the music developing it and giving it all they can.

I would like to finish this post by saying a BIG THANK YOU to the band and the crew for the time you have all taken off from your jobs to undertake this tour.

Cannot speak highly enough of the overall production, sound and set list (more plugged if poss.) Drumming , as you said on the night stunning! Guitars both acoustic, lead and 'bazooka' splendid, extremely effective and solid bass lines and vocals/harmonies just right but as with all of us 'getting on a bit' memory laspes are allowed.

Pity though about the turn out even with missed directions should have been more!!! Where were you all!

On a personal note as I was allowed to join in for mere seconds with Old Fat and ugly (in tune) a dream come true.

Thanks guys you were great!

Hope to arrange that gig in Hinckley (Leics) in '08

Wednesday brought back many happy memories of ATF, Greenbelt '79, Digbeth - Birmingham etc for us.

The sound was terrific and drumming was excellent!! Well played Matt.

We're looking forward to more gigs next year. Keep goin you old boys!!!

It was great to hear Rob Halligan with his own songs and on lead vocals on Der Kommissar etc with ATF.

Thanks for reforming and keepin the ATF sound LIVE!!! It was GREAT!!

Happy Christmas to all the ATF team and their fans and we look forward to seeing you again in the new year.

God bless

Simon and Adrian Priest
