see: Pontefract

Another ATF gig, another late night. Good job today's Saturday!

In my home/office, I have a picture of ATF at The Rainbow from 1981, so I ripped it off the wall, dashed over there.
I missed the opening of the ATF set , as I'd underestimated the time I'd need to get there, exacerbated by road blocks in Colchester. Never mind: what I saw and heard was good (as ever). And as it was the "end of the tour", we got "Joy".

I got John and Pete to sign the pic. John's wife and son (Matt) had a good giggle, and Pete pointed to a spot off the picture on the left ("I was over there somewhere".)

Thanks once again to After The Fire for the shows this week. I've seen a lot of bands, often twice on the same tour (by 15 Dec, I'll have seen Status Quo four times in twelve months); but ATF have scored a first: twice in the same week!

Pic below:

A large one is available on request (will fit on computer desktop), but for private use only: I don't want it appearing on eBay.

I'll bet you couldn't do it nowadays! Three gigs in a week, that is, not The Rainbow!

(Alas, The Rainbow is a shell of its former self.)

Well, I'm just thrilled to have been able to see them four times this year!! All have been at very different venues, but all have been different but soooooo good.

Last night at Mersea was FANTABULOHSO!!!!

I can't understand what Brother Russell is concerned about.......they rocked, even when suppossedly accoustic!!! They're obviously enjoying themselves both as performers and musicians, BUT just leave Ian alone, WE KNOW HE'S THERE!! He's like Adam Clayton, he just gets on with it, likewise Matt, only Matt is perhaps just a tad louder and he rocks with his whole body!!

And Rob was so good,  this time I was glad that I knew most of his songs, having heard him at Greenbelt with ATF and then immediately gone out to buy two of his CDs at the CD tent!! (I bought his third one last night!!)

We videoed the whole concert, but unfortunately the clarity is not as good as on the Greenbelt clips, presumably because of the stage lighting, whereas in the Christian Aid tent it was just natural light. (We'd appreciate anybody's tips on how to improve our videoing!!) Anyhow, you'll at least get a good idea of how great the gig was!!

Here's a link to our YouTube web page, Gina and Dark Side/You're Gorgeous are already up and more will follow asap..... enJOY!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

I went to Southend and then Mersea and enjoyed them both. I thought the sound was better at Southend with the Riga's own PA which seemed clear. The more acoustic parts of the set sounded great. Apart from a few a-hem.. mistakes the performance was great and I must say Peter is always very approachable and keen to hear what we have to say. Ian's bass was not to be forgotten!

Following Southend I ventured to Mersea and arrived just midway thru Rob's set. Sorry Rob, but excellent ,thanks. The ATF set was good too. Probably a better performance than at Southend, but the sound was not as good. John is so keen to rock given the chance, I think an all guns blazing version of Suspended Animation would be one to add in.

Thanks to everyone for the entertainment & hard work. I hope there will be more to come.

Mark..

ps anyone else from East London/Ilford/Essex ish areas reading this?
