Chloe could bake some special cakes with white icing and Make Poverty History in big letters on the top.  Yum!

Have to be made from fairly traded ingredients though!

On the subject of Live 8, there's a story in todays Times about the RMT union changing the date of their next one day strike from Friday to Saturday, so as "to maximise the impact and put greater pressure on the company." A union spokesman is quoted as saying "We are not going to weep crocodile tears over the consequences of our industrial action… if we are going to have the desired effect of getting the company to the table to negotiate."

I've been a committed trade unionist (different union) for the last 23 years - I've just fired off the first "disgusted of Tunbridge Wells" letter I think I've ever sent, asking them to reconsider. Their email address is info@rmt.org.uk  if anyone else is similarly inclined...

As a railway worker and pleased to say an ex-member of the RMT nothing surprises me from them! I left during the strike in Yorkshire a couple of years ago. I thought that the Scargill union philosophies were dead until that strike. Even now there are people who don't speak to me! Who cares!!

It would be a great idea to take a Live 8 package
round the country, region by region.

If it was arranged as a tour (perhaps with some core
bands and others dropping in regionally) then the
band could play everywhere. Must be some other
good bands up for this?

Wouldn't have to be a large number of dates.

Sorry, was he?

I thought he meant a series of separate events
rather than a rolling tour.
