Does anybody have a good resolution image of the proposed cover for this version of the abum [Mansfield/Brotherwood]. I've only recently discovered that one had actually be designed. Allegedly the cover had Andy's face in a bubble, or somehting. Either that, or else someone is pulling my leg. Can anyone enlighten me, please?

The cover is a colourful painting of a corner of a room, with a wooden floor, sky blue walls with a hint of cloud, a TV showing John's face on the left of the picture, a painting on the wall to the right which I assume is Mr Brotherwood's face, and Messrs Banks and Piercy sort of superimposed in the foreground. The cover was displayed at a gig in Stafford back in 2005.  Do I have a photographic memory?  Or a bad photograph taken on a 2megapixel digital camera?

Oh how I'd like a nice big copy of that myself.  And of the album...!  He says wistfully - after all, it is my birthday!

:-)

Still got 15 minutes before it starts and I'm not going in the lounge while bloomin' Lark Rise is on, so here's what I believe is the tracklisting for the rejected version:

STARFLIGHT (Brotherwood on drums, available on the "Nick At Nite Goes To Outer Space" compilation CD!)

IT'S HIGH FASHION

ANOTHER WORLD

CAN YOU FACE IT

OPERATOR

LOVE WILL ALWAYS MAKE YOU CRY

1980-F

SATELLITE IN ORBIT

WHO's GONNA LOVE YOU

WILD WEST SHOW

STARFLIGHT (REPRISE)

Demo versions of Operator, Satellite In Orbit, Another World and Love Will Always Make You Cry appeared on the limited edition Demos CD released in 2005, but whether these are the same as the versions on 80-f Mark 1 I don't know.

Right, ten minutes to go, cup of tea, cake...

The running order is:

side one
Starflight
High Fashion
Another World
Can You Face It?
Operator

side two
Love Will Always Make You Cry
1980-F
Satellite In Orbit
Who's Gonna Love You
Billy Billy
Starflight
(reprise)

To explain .. I have the acetate for this album, pressed by Tape 1. I just didn't know there was a cover too. I wanted it for album art for my mp3's.

The Opening Starflight on the album is a 4 min edit of a six minute recording I also have .. they just kept playing til they, well, stopped.

Another World/Satellite/Operator were ditched, and Joanne/Wild West/Why Can't We Be Friends replaced them.

This version of 1980-F is also accidently found on the US Der Kommissar vinyl release 1982 with the BNI cover.

I'm glad someone loves you Noel!

That is good news, I think that some on this Forum also love you, Why? You'll just have to ask them!

It's bean a bit tame here recently without you, I've missed your input (there always seems to be a sub-text with your posts). Glad your back!
