Hello Everyone!
I seem to remember some time ago, Ian made some ATF MIDIs.
Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to find
these. I have had quite a fun idea that I will of course
share with you all! :)
Thanks in advance.

Always Zippy!!
I'm afraid those MIDIs have gone the way of all things.
I don't have them any more and the web page that hosted
them is no longer there, so unless anyone took a copy I'm
afraid they're gone forever. Sorry!
Ian

The article says it needs extra citations for verification, but my head's spinning already! But basically its a music file- of sorts, I take it.

Shame. Looks like I shall have to attempt at making my
own. Thanks anyway Ian.
MIDI is more the term used to describe the technology
involved. But basically, it's a music file that can be
played back by anything that supports MIDI. So things
like Electronic Keyboards, Computers etc... I should also
add that all the sound is computer generated.
Bit of a naff explanation. I can't think of a simpler way
to put it. I really should know! >.<

Hi Seagull - do you remember the old pianolas? They were
pianos that played themselves using a roll of punched
paper.
MIDI files are much like that, they contain info about
how to play a track rather than how to get loudspeakers
to recreate the sound waves.
What's really useful is that in the old days if you made
a mistake in the recording studio you might have to play
the whole thing again whereas if you record your stuff
using MIDI you can open the file, find the note that's
wrong and nudge it in the right direction. Much easier!
MIDI files don't just contain the notes, they contains
expression too so when they're played back they'll also
recreate the way you played the track.
And aonce you've recorded something in MIDI you can' play
it back on almost any synth and see how it sounds with
different voices. In the old days the only way to do that
was to re-record your parts on the other synths.
Hope that explains it all!
Ian

Ian! Brilliant! You should get the job on "I'm sorry, I havn't a Clue" explaining the rule of the game: One song to the tune of another!
So it's like pressing Banksy's or John's finest moments into a roll of perforated paper (they are, after all, very old) which contains their very essence, and may then be used in a variety of different recipes..?
