I'd be sorry to see the forum go, but it does seem very inactive - last
post before today 19 November. Seems pointless continuing.

Hello everyone on planet ATF !

I`m very sad hearing of the uncertain future of this forum. Since I`m not using facebook, there will be a totally loss of connection for me. Call me dinosaur or something, but at this point I've got my reasons. I think this place here brought us together again, so credit where credit dues. So my vote goes pro forum, albeit the reality may look in another direction. Long live the ATF forum !

As a pragmatist, I'd query the cost of retaining the
domain.

It is self evidently distinctive, and I would presume once
lost would cost more to regain. OTOH, as the rules change
even more favourable domain names might be possible?

If it was relatively cheap, I'd keep the domain, as all the
major internet companies look to leverage any content they
own, I become less and less keen on expressing honest
opinions on major social sites!

So i'd provisional y vote to keep the address/forum!

Like Didi, I am not on fb and have no intention of
joining so will miss the board with the news and chat.
Not the most prolific of posters but do visit often and
try to respond where relevant.

What is the cost of keeping the forum going for a year ?

Perhaps all us pro forum people could help contribute
towards the cost ?

If not enough interest is shown then pointless keeping it
going, but I will miss out unless Banksy sends out
regular e-mails about gigs and any ATF releases.

Interesting to see how this goes.

Just seen this.

I don't use FB and would prefer this stays open. But then again if it costs, I would respect any decision to close it, albeit rather sadly.

Facebook page:

As a second opinion (If you ask, I could probably come up with a 3rd, 4th and 5th opinion), It does depend on what the Band plans to do.

I would suggest that pretty much everything in the vaults has been released. Most of the original releases have been put out on CD. A new live album has been released and there have been a few small tours.

Ultimately, unless the band has has future plans, then it can only be expected that the interest in the forum will diminish.

I'm not under the impression that we are to expect any new ATF music, so unless there is some other project forthcoming, the I don's see the forums having a huge long term future.

So things that could be done:

I know the original albums on CD were remastered from vinyl, obviously the albums could be remastered from tape, but I suspect that the level of interest couldn't justify the cost.

Some artists open up their master tapes for public remixing competitions, however I suspect that few tracks would be in a suitable format for this.

Several artists publish souvenir music books, interspersed with stories about the songs, but as Andy was generally circumspect about his lyrics, this might be difficult.

The band does at times lead worship services, I'm not sure how wide an interest there would be in recordings of that type of music.

Anyone else with other ideas?

Perhaps this should have been a separate forum topic?

It woulsd be a shame for the forum to go, although the number of contributions has dimisnished.

Hopefully I will be able to make to 200 posts.
