Now this is getting really obscure, but I saw ATF at the Lampeter University Students Union in 1980 (I think, with Nick Brotherwood on drums) and the experience is still welded in my brain. I've been to many gigs but this one stands out as one the best ever. Terrific atmosphere, suberb sound (loud AND clear), brilliant playing. A whole bunch of us travelled down from the Aberystwyth CU to the gig and were not disappointed. And so grateful that the band would travel so far to play in our neck of the woods. I wonder if anyone else out there remembers that night? I wonder if the band remember it? They can't have played many times in Mid-Wales!
I have all the ATF albums, the first three on mint vinyl, Never thought they might accumulate any value, though they deserve it. Anyway all will be forced upon the rest of the family in preparation for the Greenbelt appearance. We are all going this year for the first time as a family. Last time I was there was 1985 playing the second stage with the Northern Irish band Crossfire (bass)(anyone remember?) so it's been a long time and I'm looking forward to it immensely. I missed the Greenbelt 79 ATF appearance, I went for the first time in 78 and they didn't play that year. I am just so pleased that this gig is happening. It will be a great night, see you there. I'll be the one with the Laser Love badge on my jacket, I've just dug it out of a box of bits from my student days!
Any Christian musicians in the Lincoln area who fancy trying to get something together, let me know.
