I am thinking of going to see ATF on Saturday In Beckenham. I have not seen them since the late 70s when they were in their three-man-band phase. Will I recognise them?

Definitely Oliver. The main difference is they can now use the disabled parking outside the venue and they come on their bus passes. (Sorry guys, I know you will get your own back!!!) Wink

Stop thinking and get there, write a review and give your honest evaluation.

I dug out some old ATF stuff from all those years ago - Friends membership card (no. 105), Friends newsletters (with an embarrassing photo of me plus friends on page 10 of issue 9, for anyone else out there as sad as me and who has still has some of this stuff), vouchers to get into the Music Machine to see ATF free (beer there was always watery and expensive) and a couple of ATF stickers (unused) with their circular ?star-burst? logo.

They looked so young... but then again so did I.

If we can sort out child minding, we'll be there on Saturday.

We went. We both enjoyed it. It is always dangerous revisiting one's past for fear of disappointment, but we weren't let down. OK, so it was my past (seen them 20-30 times in the 70s, not bad for the secular wing of the ATF fan club), my partner was, as Pete Banks put it, "an After The Fire virgin". But she was impressed.

They delivered a good show, with an interval long enough to get to the pub and back. I can recommend them to anyone. One or two of them may been "fading rock stars" (Pete Banks again) but they can still deliver.

Nice to have a brief word with Pete again after 29 years...

Thanks for the show. Thanks for the memories.
