Hafta say, without trying to sell it, the shows have been great fun. Looking forward to having Banksy guest with us at Billericay as well.

I'll still be the youngest!

Hi Zippy, we'll look out for you  .  We are short and grey, and tall and balding!!!

Have you recently been the big four oh Rob, or am I reading too much into your comment about what to do with the next 40 years?!

Jennie

Hello, good afternoon and welcome. Just thought I would drop a note on the Rob, Bob & Banksy show in Billericay yesterday.

Was a good show, it was lovely to be open air, warm with only a few drops of rain. Enjoyed the evening but do find it hard to stay put in my seat with good music going on !

Love listening to Rob's songs, and think there were only 3 songs on his new CD that he didn't sing. My favs are Dungeon Ghyl (I've seen the angel also but in different places to Dungeon !), Christians Brother, You, Carry me Home, OK my favs are most of them !!  Would have been nice to hear Blue Jeans though.

Bob. Well not heard anything by Bob or Ceili Rain (found out its pronounced Kay-lee Rain, not Sealie Rain, which is what I have been calling them!) until last night and loved it. Bought 3 CD's and enjoyed listening to all of them. Loved his singing impersonation of, old blue eyes, Louis and Kermit, was very funny and entertaining. Was great to get everyone singing 'You then me then you then me', very catchy song. Some of the other songs Bob sang were, I Don't need a Picture, The Big Snow, Live like a King and Junkyard, all good songs. Was nice to meet Bob also, I think he looks like a young Michael McDonald. Does anyone know why all Ceili Rain CD's end in the bag pipes playing ? I know of the Irish connection, but what is the Scottish connection.

And last but not least, Mr Banksy, always good to see Pete perform, being an ATF fan and all, I'm sure you all know what I mean ! Sang my heart out to One of Us (not talking about ABBA here by the way) Joan Osbourne song, so love that song. Also Bring 'em All In. Take a deep breath if you intend to sing along to that song otherwise you will run out of puff ! Great singalong versions of the Proclaimers 500 miles (is that what its called), was strange that have not heard that song or seen them on TV for years and they just happened to be on the One Show on Friday night ! Also, that other song, name escapes me, does anyone remember what the name of the song was after 500 miles ? Think we were gate crashed by some football fans, they were singing loudly outside on the street and Rob started copying their footie song !

Was nice to be back in the Rectory again, Paul & Paula Carr thanks for the use of the Rectory garden and your hospitality, lovely atmosphere, fantastic evening and memorable. Although at one point in the evening I did think the singing birds in the trees were going to drown out the show, must have been the spot lights making them think it was morning and tweeting time ! Oh and Paul the songs being played during the break were great oldies, someone told me they were from your MP3 or IPod or whatever these new things are called, great music. Babe by Styx, has great memories, I have the laser etched vinyl 7". Oh yes and HAPPY BIRTHDAY for yesterday, great birthday party. Good start to the show singing happy birthday to you.

Fantastic to finally meet Jennie and John (the Sharpies), hope to meet up with you again at the next show. Yeah, sorry I misled you, I am not yellow with a zip for a mouth   ! Would be great for other forum fans to meet up at the shows, at least then we will know who we are talking to on the forum. Promise not to make you all wear a pink carnation ! Dominion, you missed a good show, hope you had a good time in Jersey. They do good potatoes you know !

The show finished with Carry Me Home. Think we were all waiting for that one and a great ending to a lovely evening.

Got home at midnight from Billericay and was too fired up to sleep, ended up going to bed at 3am ! Very enjoyable evening.

Anyone else got any comments on last nights show ?

Thanks guys for a great evening.

Wendy (not yellow with a zip !)   (Zippy still loves ATF).

Hello

I've really enjoyed reading your detailed report Zippy, even though I was there!  I totally agree with everything you say.  A big thank you to Rob, Bob and Banksy for a brilliant evening; agreed it's always grand listening to Rob and Pete and it was great to hear Bob too, an excellent trio!  Hope you won't miss each other too much, Rob and Bob, after your whirlwind tour debut!!  Thank you very much for your hospitality Paul and Paula; I hope you enjoyed your birthday Paul and thanks for sharing it with us in spectacular fashion!

It was great to be outside and I think the birds were inspired to join in!

Fantastic to meet you too Zippy, and your sister (what do you suggest instead of a pink carnation?!).  Thanks for telling us who those songs were by, I wanted to know whose was the 500 miles.  My musical knowledge is somewhat limited!    I think the Irish have a kind of bag pipe too don't they?

Take care all, see some of you next month.

Jennie

Hi Guys,

Rev Paul adding his words of wisdom into the mix.  Many thanks to those of you who attended this gig and, unknowingly, helped celebrate my birthday!  It was, without a shadow of doubt, a wonderful occasion and one that will never be repeated.  Folk haven’t stopped talking about it and emails keep coming in. Such as: “I think you were right when you said this was a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ gig.”  “We were privileged to witness three such talented men in such an intimate setting.”  I don’t think many folk know just how ‘big’ Bob Halligan Jnr is in the states, check out the stadium version of one 'You then me' with his band Ceili Rain on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi8krOdk1NU

Highlight for me was Bob Jr dedicating 'Love Travels' (one of my favourite Kathy Mattea songs) to yours truly. However, both Rob and Bob's songs combined together well and they really complimented each other - and the banter and friendship seemed genuine. It was good to have Banksie guesting which further added to a particularly memorable and unique evening.

It was also good to meet up with some familiar faces from previous gigs (ATF in Billericay seems to be coming a regular event!) and I look forward to catching up with some of you at Bradwell and, hopefully, during the Autumn tour.

Guess that's about all for now

Blessings to all

Paul

PS. Wendy, thanks for your comments about the music mix (before, during and after) - a number of folk made similar comments on the night.  They were simply a selection of some of my favourite songs on my ipod and they seemed to be a good mix for the 40 something brigade.

PPS. Song after 500 miles was 'Sit Down' by James!
