I have most of the ATf singles on vinyl as 12" singles. Does anyone know if Life In The City was ever released on 12", and if so, was it an extended version? And also if the answer is yes, does anyone have one to sell?

Hi,
Life In The City was indeed released as a 12" and differs again from the single & album versions. It is about a minute longer than the single version, because it does that "stop dead and start-up again" thing like the album version does...really cool. My favourite version I think. It's well worth getting too, because it has three live tracks on the b-side...if I remember correctly (my copy is buried upstairs) they are Listen To Me, Laser Love & Power Of A Jet! I'm not selling mine I'm afraid, but Mick put up a link a while ago to a site where loads of second hand ATF stuff pops up from time to time - if you nose around the forum, you'll probably find it, and I'm sure you'll find the 12" on there.

Mark,
I've saved you the bother of nosing around - if you click on this link and type in After The Fire, it usually comes up with wads of stuff. Hope you find what you're after!

Thanks for that - no 12" Life In The City at the moment, but I will keep searching.
And it turns out that I did used to work with Ian Niblo - what a small world.

Additional info:
The Life In The City single marked the beginning of recording with Tony Mansfield that continued into the initial 80-f sessions. Every Mother's Son is from this time too. As has been said above, the 12" had three live tracks culled from Rainbow 12/79. A limited promo 7" also appeared during the Fancy Dress tour with two more live tracks: One Rule/Time To Think.

Yes, was a white label in a white sleeve. No words just an individually
stamped number. Does anybody else have one? I'd like to know what
numbers people have. I'm trying to guage how many were pressed.
Mine's 000025 which doesn't help me much.
