Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere but I have just discovered on ITunes an EP called The Meaning of Haste claiming to be by (and copyrighted to) After The Fire, released in March 2008.

There is no mention of it on the site here and it looks a bit suspicious. Do we know anything about it?

I think I've just answered my own question. I listened to a sample and it is some sort of hideous death metal!!!

Is there a case for some sort of copyright infringement/trademark plagiarism legal issue here? It could be very confusing for people and, dare I say, damaging for the band.

I travelled some distance a few years back having seen a poster in a pub in Brentwood saying After  The  Fire were playing that Friday only to find it was 2 blokes and a backing track.

I asked them in the interval if they were aware that they had nicked the name of one of the gratest british bands ever and they just looked blankly at me.I can't remember what else I said to them in the interval but it resulted in me being ejected from the said tavern by a big burly bouncer.

Sue anyone who uses the name and use the proceeds for Aid TF is what I say.

Any legal beagles out there who know how to do it?

Mark

I had a similar experience in the early 90's - the listing was on teletext and we travelled 40 miles up to Lancashire only to discover it was some young covers band.

They were quite good!

There's a US band called After The Fire which I've spotted on YouTube.  No idea if it's these heavy geezers though.

I traveled all the way to Farncombe last November to see a heavy rock outfit called after the fire and it was some old 70’s rockers playing acoustic music

They got better when they plugged the amps in though

hope i don't make the same mistake again this November

There's a band called BTF out there too.  Short for Backyard Tire Fire apparently.

Really, how interesting...
