Hi to the band
I know that Pete is on his hols at the present, but can anyone answer this question?
Are any of the band going to be at Greenbelt this year, for any reason?
That is playing, being with children, working as a technician or any other reason?
I await any information!

I can only speak for myself as a 'peripheral' band member....I'll be there. First time since 1984 - has it, possibly, changed a little? I'm going because The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Simon (17) wants to and his mum won't let him go on his own. I confidently expect to spend most of the weekend sleeping, avoiding the noisy areas, and wandering around trying to remember what my tent looks like.....Not working, though, unless the call goes out "Is there a sound man in the house?"
Hughesie (lighting) may also be there...?
JP the fairly-sound man

I'm pretty sure Pete and family are going.
Rob Bell would be a 'must see' if I was able to go this year.

Athlete are headlining - well worth going just for them especially if their new single is anything to go by.

I used to go to Greenbelt in the late 70's when After the Fire were in their hayday and it had a great atmostphere which seem to get lost in the 80's and 90's. I was there at 'Greenbelt 79' when After the Fire were the healiners along with Cliff Richard of a great line up of Christian artists. I have recordings of both After The Fire's set and Randy Stonehill's set from that year.
I lost interest in Greenbelt by the mid 1980's and stopped going. For me it became too corperate and very expensive. In the early days it was a family festival and somehow it grew too big and lost is real meaning for me personally. Also the classic christian artists diminished in favour of unknowns peppered with a few secular artists.

I have been told, although Greenbelt's site doesn't mention it that Nick
Battle is doing something at GB09. He's written a couple of books and
released a couple of CDs so he'll either be speaking or playing would be my
guess!
I'm afraid, Kimberley, that Elfin Safety began attending the festival just
before you left and it changed a lot. It's very good at Cheltenham though.

I liked it best at Odell but not so much at Knebworth. Then it moved around all over the place and then finally ended up at Cheltenham. I miss the classic Christian rock artists like Randy Stonehill, Larry Norman, Bryn Howarth, Daniel Amos and ATF of course. It's all a bit bland these days and lacks the edge of those early festivals.

Can Kimberley, or anyone else, remember who topped the Friday bill at GB79? Reason I ask - I've now worked or am working with the bill toppers from Saturday (ATF), Sunday (Cliff) and Monday (Bryn) but if I had a programme it's gone walkies over the years. I'd like to try and complete the set!
Is anyone's long-term memory better than mine?
Will buy coffee for anyone who accosts me at GB09 with the answer!

I think it was Garth Hewitt?! He had just recorded his 'Did
He Jump or Was He Pushed?' album on Cliff's new label.
Coffee?

You could well be right...in which case I have a full house! Coffee is on me - unless anyone knows different? Course, you'll have to find me at Greenbelt.....mind you that's a lot easier than the last time I went - mobile phones weren't invented then!
