Phew - that was a hottie

A great evening was had by all as we rocked all over the
moon!

What a great venue it reminded me of the late great
Limit Club in Sheffield but here it was above ground
level and more upmarket with good atmosphere.

Rob (aka cymbal basher) now has got to be a permanent
fixture in the band since he brought so much drive,
personality and charisma to the proceedings it was
delight to behold.

As was said by many afterwards the band produced the
best sound and performance since their reformation back
in 2004.

The first half was great you guys rolled off song after
song but will not go into much detail here as it will
spoil it for others going to the remaining gigs - you
guys are in for a real treat, then we enjoyed Rob's bit
in the middle which was the calming influence that
enabled us to catch breath then the second half followed
in which you cranked it up another gear and you blew us
away WOW that was really the icing on the cake.

Special shouts to Ian and Tim (excellent work)they are
keeping the vets in check keep working on them to add
those extra pieces especialy the one that the choir sang
well last night.

Looking forward to much much more

David Snr

David, I think your review is pretty much spot on. Well done ATF for an excellent gig.
I went last year to the Beckenham gig and was very ciritical on this forum about that venue and acoustics.

This year I decided to go to Cambridge because it was in a 'proper' venue, ie not a church! I live in London and Hemel Hempstead, tonights gig, is just 10mins from where I live, but I couldn't bear to go through 'another Beckenham", so I made the trip 'up north'. Despite arriving 30mins after the start (probelms on the M25!) I had a great night and thought the boys were pretty much spot on ! Rob, is a definate asset. I was sorely disappointed with the lead guy on the greenbelt DVD, so much so that after 2 songs I turned it off and never played it again.

I woud dearly love to see Andy Piercy back, even if its just for one night (I'd travel around the world to see him with Pete and John again) , but in his abscence I thought Rob was really good. I hope he stays on with the band.

Good choice of songs, much better than last year, good venue! I thought John really seemed to enjoy himself and I still get goose bumps when he does his solo on Billy Billy.

The crowd realy enjoyed themselves and knew all the words and joined in all the time.

I hope ATF move on from here, but PLEASE no more churches!!!!!!!

Rock on 2009!!!

Seconded!

The only word I can use to describe the gig last night is "Awesome!". It was great to come
up and see you guys again, it made the 3 hour each way journey well worth it!

I seriously hope that Rob is at least considered to be a full time member of the band, as
he was straight in there with you guys. He brought Andy style vocals and a certain
charisma to the line up that I don't think Keith quite lived up to in my honest opinion.
Tim was spot on with the drums. Being a drummer myself, I know how difficult it can be
to get in with some of the ATF tracks. Not only that but to get them in what I like to call
the "Ivor Effect". What was also evident in the performance though was how much fun
you guys seemed to have. And that's what it is all about at the end of the day.

And we can't forget the effort put in by Banksy, John and Ian. Absolutely fantastic! I
mentioned to both John and Pete at the end of the night of how amazed I was that after
all these years you spent not active you're still musically in there and getting things
pretty much perfect.

No journey of course is ever complete without Service Stations, and our journey was no
exception. Sitting in the car with Coffee at 12:30AM still buzzing about how great it was
and listening to AT2F all the way home. Crossing the Humber Bridge at 2 AM still
buzzing. Just absolutely brilliant.

Well Done again guys.

David Junior

P.S. The choir rendition was awesome, but next time from the front please :).

Wow, that was a long journey. We got home at about 12:45am. Great to see people travelling long distances to attend - devoted fan base :-)

Exactly - that was the impression I got too. Great to see and hear.

Yes, a great gig at Cambridge. My voice is still hoarse - all those "oh, oh,
oh, oh's". Keep having fun, guys! We long-time fans love these nostalgia
trips.

Any chance of all band members, past and present (except PK, of course,
God bless him), getting together for a big gig? Nick (Signs of Change),
Ivor (all those crazy hats on 'A Little Sun, a Little Rain) and Andy, plus
current members?

Is this now an annual autumn tour?

All the best, guys!

Tim

Cambridge - Pass with Honours.

My god, I left Friday night feeling like I had when I was was just 17 years old.  Exhilaration, joy, etc etc. And the opportunity to talk with band members & audience alike is always a bonus.

I think that all posts above are just. For me , I loved the whole set (except "You're Gorgeous" - It's just not my kind of music). When you see a band like ATF you know the Band's effort is gonna be there , and in Cambridge so was the the audiences'.

Singing along and some a'hem .. dancing. The atmosphere was buzzing. Rob was excellent doing what must be a tough job to front a band who's music he didn't write/cowrite. Yet he nailed it with very few rehearsals from what I understand.

All band members seemed to be enjoying themselves and I hope as I writ ethis they are doing the same in Hemel.

Rob - if you can continue to sing with ATF in between other commitments I would love it. You bring a warmth and a fun feel at the same time. Smiling on stage makes us all feel good and means the audience comes alive.

The sound at Cambridge was the best I have heard in recent years with just a small blip on John's pear guitar.

Boys, alas I will not be there tonight or Sunday, but if anyone can make photos or videos available that would be great.

ATF are back & sounding Gr80-F.

ps Timestar - you have to make apost after this one.... because you always do. Nice to have met you & Starflight.

Mark,

Not only because I always do but I nearly have 600 posts
(not sure about the quality tho) so you will have to
excuse me hehehe

Going back to your point about talking to band members,
fellow forum peeps and audience. this is what makes the
experience all so much better for me.
We all seem to have a bond and all feel at home, there
are lots of faces that I recognise from earlier gigs
past and present but have not plucked up the courage to
speak to.
As they said at school "will have to make more effort"

Once again to one and all THANK YOU
