For a Church - Great, Great, Great Gig. Having the pews meant when we stood up we each had our own little barrier in front of us - super. I still prefer to stand in front of a 1m (3 foot) high stage but we can't always get what we want! Rob's Wild West Show was a treat, Billy Billy as always was superb, we had both the encores (last week it was only one at each of the gigs) and two lines of Pilgrim (the choir forgot the lines because they didn't go to practice in the Vestry to rehearse) and a little gong! No Power of a Jet - please put it back in next year it’s a great Rock song for a Great Rock Band! Really really great ATF - keep on Rocking!

Aaagh!  Colin and I simultaneously and inadvertently started independent threads about tonight's gig.  For the record, what I said on the other thread was as below.  Now let's see what happens if Colin cross-posts this onto the other thread. Might we cause a meltdown of the interweb?

"A great gig!  I especially loved the way the second half built up gradually from Rob's solos, through "One Rule", into "Old and Fat and Ugly", and thence to the crescendo of... no, I won't spoil it for the final gig attendees.  Rest assured it really rocked by the end!  Just glad my wife and kids weren't there to witness this 49 year old behaving like a 19 year old again.

Rob was brilliant - huge presence and a really solid voice, a fine front man.  Well done mate, you should turn pro.  (Oh, you are...)

Not convinced by the church venue.  Very surreal to walk through a vestry to get to the bar for a beer.  At least folk got up to dance instead of remaining glued to the pews, but the main problem was the sound.  Very very trebley, to the extent that it rattled in the ears.  And even so, I just couldn't hear the keyboards much at all, which is a real shame when sublime 'moog moments' like in "Life in the City" get lost.

Anyway, it didn't spoil the experience for me.  It was ace to share it with everyone else in the crowd (albeit too few) as well as to have a cup of horlicks with the band at half time.

So rock on forever ATF, and just remember you can always use those extra-large fonts for the lyrics on the stage monitors!

Neil"

Great show, and great idea having Rob on vocals and guitar. Invite him to do the honours again next year. Also well done to newbie Tim - very solid performance.

Someone above mentioned the sound: I was standing on the left facing the stage, not very far back, but it seemed to me that the keyboards got lost somewhere.

Looking forward to next year already.

P.S. I hope the photo in the sig isn't too large. I've Photo-Shopped the size down, but I think Photobucket then increases it!

A great evening's entertainment - great to see Rob's confidence as the frontman growing (even in just the week getween Farncombe & Hemel) - your energy more than made up for the odd missing lyric!! (well you cant use John & Peter's excuse of old age can you!!)

This tour was just soooo much better than the 2007 one  - cant wait for the new album (please tell me there will be one) & the tour that will have to accompany it :)

Thanks also to the backstage crew- great job as always

Dont forget to sign up for Rob's newsletter!!

PS  "Did you see them {ATF} when they were alive" has to be the quote of the tour    (from a lady talking to Rob at the merchandise stand in the interval)
