Hi all

I have been asked to help for an evening on a radio show in the next few months.  The show will be reflecting on some old(er) Christian bands and current material.

If you have any suggestions I would be grateful.

Will post more news as I can.

Initial thoughts:

Rev Counter!!
Just The Job - Fears of the Years
Vatten - Dreamer
Bob Dylan - Property of Jesus
Larry Norman - too many to mention
Writz/Fish Co/etc
Bryn Haworth - (something from Grand Arrival)
100% - maybe
Moral Support/Andy McCarroll - ?
Randy Stonehill
ATF - something very early & new

I suspect, getlostdave, that the word 'taste' in this resspect will be
something of an oxymoron.
The Joystrings could be in there. And there are some good links on the
Crossbeats site. Get there by googling 'buzzmagazine+MGO' and follow
the top link from Liverpool Uni.
All Things New/All Saints Star Band
Malcolm and Talcum
Messengers of The Cross
Nutshell
Rez Band
PTO
Parchment
Gorgeous Pouting Sheila Walsh

Duke Special has played more times at GB than most.  His new album has been initialy released on a box set of 7" singles.  Will get a Duke track in.  The recorded version of that track is clean for air.

Some of the ideas may be hard without source material & on taste grounds.

More recent history:

Eden Burning - Never Could Play The Guitar

Older stuff, What about Giantkiller, or anything off the various artist album "Out of the Ghetto" which was produced by Laurie Mellor, Ismael's bassist when he wass United/Rev Counter.

Or on the Ishmael theme what about Dave Evans band the Tenfoots they released at least one Ep that I have squirrelled away somewhere.

Older and current

Ricky Ross/deacon Blue

Bruce Cockburn

and where exactly do the Proclaimers stand.

And finally if you want something really cheesey Charlene - I've never been to me.

And and if you get really desparate you could always talk about  confirmation certificate

A few other possibilities (oldies):

Barry McGuire

Garth Hewitt (singer of a thousand TEAR Fund filmstrips)

For something out of left field - Phil & John (the duo that gave eclectisism a bad name!)

There was also another singer songwriter (Canadian I think), whose name escapes me (sign of old age).  However, I do remember he did a reworked version of Dr Hook's "Cover of the Rolling Stone" about the life of a Christian musician called "Front Page of Crusade".  The name's just come to me - Barry Crompton.
