In the event (or not) of winning a Grammy for the support roll for the latter part of the After The Fire Mega Tour 2007 I have prepared a speech which I would like to share with the group...

Ahem.
Thank you, Thank you, you're all very kind.
This is such an unbelievable surprise to have won such a prestigious award.
(pause/ selah wait for applause to subside and leave a pregnant pause)
It was such an honour touring with a band as iconic as After The Fire. A band so steeped in history reaching back through the years into the distant past where they made their indelible mark on pop music culture. The band that had a singing bassist before the Police and kept Eddie Van-Halen happy in their dressing room.
I'd like to  thank the band for putting up with my guitars cluttering the stage. If you thought John still had the moves of an 80's guitar hero, think what could have been if my guitars weren't in the way. I'd like to thank Matt for the offer of his hair straighteners. I declined at the time but, Matt, I love you for the gesture of generosity. To Ian  'The Bull' Niblo, the solid bassist.  Ian, You Rock!
(wait for more applause to die down)
And to Mr Banks. You told me off, moaned in the car and ate my soup. Thank you!
Who could wish for better mentoring.
Thanks as well guys for playing on my songs and not cocking them up! True professionals - and to think. after the fire for a brief moment in time were my backing band.
And to everyone who came and talked to me in the break, bought my CD's and signed my mailing list. Thanks
And to my mum, love you!!!!
and my wife and manager (Blow kisses at this point) and next door for moving that skip out of the way, and the guy at the music shop that sold me the picks. Could have played without you man - totally , like, awesome.
And.... oh, I'm overcome!

-----

Somewhere in there is a LOT of Sincerity

And thanks to you, Robert, for doing such a sterling job both as a top support act but also with stuff like Der Kommissar.

My mate who came with me to the Coventry gig had never heard of your good self or, indeed, of After The Fire!  But he really enjoyed the whole night and went home with CDs by everybody.

Oh, and thanks for not bringing that guy in the pants along with you!

Not to the gig I was at.  Unless of course he kept him hidden in the dressing room.

I'll get my coat.  And lend it to any nudey guys I find hanging around!
